A collection of Abstract Artworks by Artist John Stascak in mixed media created over a 20 year span mostly from his Downtown NYC Loft Studio.
A Gallery128 Opening occurred on December 6th, 2024, an ran through December 28th. The show, this website and show catalog, were organized into 4 sections to reflect the general layout of the show featuring various Demons, Dots and Watercolor Series, singles and a few miscellaneous works of art. THE DOTS: The origin of the Dots, was inspired by an image in an article in the New York Times, circa February 2009. A rare blanket of snow washes out a Bobby’s image in a London street.
The photo image of dotted snow had the reader searching for the “Bobby” in the picture. I decided to recreate this image with various materials. Keeping the viewers eyes busy moving around, into and out of the artwork.

THE DEMONS are a motif explored throughout many of the works on this website. This began in 1979 as Stascak’s father battled cancer. On his deathbed, he claimed to be “fighting with the Devil”.
This is the point where Demons began to appear in my artwork. The Demon concept then moved through many visual associations in my drawings, mixed media, sculpture and painting. Creating life from death.
